Episode 9 -- "Christmas Show 1950", The Bing Crosby Chesterfield Show
Welcome to Old-Time Radio Essentials, a new podcast wherein a specific episode from a selected OTR series is presented, and then discussed by three co-hosts: Pete Lutz, Jane St. John and Paul Arbisi; to determine whether or not it meets the following criteria:
1. Is it truly representative of that series? (Can anyone point to it and say, "Yes, that is what [NAME OF SERIES] was all about.")
2. Is it an episode worthy of inclusion in any and every OTR aficionado's private collection?
So with this in mind, we three bring you, as our ninth installment (and Pete's selection), this episode of The Bing Crosby Show from 1950. We'll introduce the show, play it in its entirety, then discuss it at length. Thanks for joining us, and we hope you enjoy it!
To comment on how we might improve this podcast, or give suggestions for future discussions, please write to us at f6point3@gmail.com . Put the word "Essentials" in the subject line.
Your feedback means a lot to us! A review at iTunes or at your usual podcatcher would be appreciated.

Happy Christmas Eve! As promised, the Narada Radio Co. proudly presents a recording of a recent live performance -- a remake of the 1947 broadcast of "The Lux Radio Theatre: 'It's a Wonderful Life'"! We performed at the Rialto Theater in Aransas Pass, Texas, over two weekends in December 2018, to small, yet appreciative audiences. (Some lines from a 1947 "Camel Screen Players" radio broadcast were added to this production.)
Please do your best to overlook the technical and sound anomalies present in this recording. They couldn't be helped, and couldn't be removed fully in post-production.
As I indicated in yesterday's post, we really had a wonderful year! We created new audio dramas in 2018 for Pulp-Pourri Theatre, for Jake Dimes Range Detective, for Sonic Summerstock, and for 11th Hour Audio, and we brought live audio drama to three venues in South Texas. What will 2019 bring? Tune in and find out!

As I am still working on several projects at once, one of which is the newest episode of Narada Audio Drive-In, I almost forgot to load something for your podcast feed, dear friends! Here is part 2 of our S1 compilation of the special features and fictitious commercials from Pulp-Pourri Theatre!
One of the other projects is an all-new serial planned for release in S5, called "Lola, Queen of the Circus". I am currently working on the edits for Chapter 4, and so far things are looking very exciting! I'm writing now because February is NADSWRIM, the National Audio Drama Script Writing Month. It was during this month two years ago that I wrote "Jake Dimes, Range Detective" (most of it, anyway), and I hope to get quite a bit of this new serial written during February, while still living up to my commitment of bringing you Episode 4 of NADI.
Meantime, enjoy this offering from the past, and look for part 1 of S2's compilation next week!
Happy Holidays! For your Seasonal entertainment, here's a nice mix of the old-and-new: Some original material and a few old-time radio remakes in the ol' Christmas spirit! We hope you enjoy it as much as we enjoyed making it for you.
